Regional Executive News
As I write this in late May, I continue to be amazed by the resiliency of our organization and of our members. Due to the Covid-19, 2020 turned out to be a most difficult year. And, just a few months ago, it looked like 2021 was not going to be much better. However, through the perseverance of our members, working with new ideas, and the use new technology, we are turning things around.
During our February regional meeting, we proceeded with the “bidding” for the dates to be used in the upcoming competition year. However, we were unsure if we were even going to be able to hold events. Shortly after that, several of the local towns canceled planned parades that many of us participate in. Then, again due to Covid-19, many of our planned car shows and other events were canceled one by one. It was starting to look like the 2021 season was going to be a bust again. Eventually, we had our first autocross of the season. Then, another and another! Now, it looks like we are moving toward with plenty of events. Who knows but 2021 may turn out to be a great season after all.
As I think about the various competition events as well as the dust-off cruises, drive and dines, cruise-ins, and other events that are taking place around the region, I am reminded that the strength of NCCC is in its members. The camaraderie with our friends as well as making new acquaintances is, for many of us, what it is all about.
In closing, I would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2021.
